Low-altitude mountain rescue training

2026-02-09

When we step into the mountains, we chase freedom and vastness, but often ignore that the mountains are never gentle habitats, but hide countless unknown testing grounds. A sudden rainstorm, an unexpected slip, and a hidden rockfall trap can turn outdoor joy into a life-or-death crisis in an instant. Mountain rescue is far more complex than we imagine, and every successful rescue is inseparable from thousands of trials of professional knowledge and practical ability. According to the China Mountaineering Association's "2025 Mountaineering and Outdoor Sports Accident Report", there were a total of 426 mountaineering and outdoor sports accidents that year, of which hiking and mountaineering projects accounted for 81.4% of the total, and only in the Gonggashan area of western Sichuan, 83 cases of help for help such as lost hiking and loss of contact will be received in 2025.

It is not a simple "helping hand", but a professional game against time and the environment. According to the statistics of the fire department, the average time for mountain rescue is as long as 4.2 hours, far exceeding that of the plain area, of which 70% of the search and rescue time is spent on accurate positioning, and what is even more worrying is that 83% of the distressed people deviated more than 500 meters from the initial alarm position and the final discovery point. The mountainous terrain is rugged and changeable, with steep slopes, dense forests, cliffs, and glaciers intertwined, obstructed vision, and poor communication are the norm. The weather in the mountains is changing rapidly, with strong winds, heavy rain, thick fog, and low temperatures that may come at any time, and although the incidence of snowy accidents is lower than that of sunny days, it is easy to cause slipping, hypothermia and other dangers due to the slippery terrain; More importantly, 70% of the trapped tourists lack the necessary emergency supplies, and 30% will aggravate the danger due to physical exhaustion or hypothermia. Different from the convenient support of urban rescue, mountain rescue does not have a fixed route and sufficient supplies, and every action is the ultimate test of the rescuer's professionalism, psychological quality and adaptability.

You may say, "I only climb occasionally, and accidents are far away from me"; You may think, "Rescue is a professional's business, it has nothing to do with me." But the mountains and fields will never give us a chance to take chances, and the data can sound the alarm: in the mountaineering accidents in western Sichuan for many years, inexperienced "little whites" account for as much as 90%, and data from the General Administration of Sports of the People's Republic of China shows that there were 32 mountaineering and outdoor sports accidents in a single month, including 5 fatal accidents and 7 fresh lives. Accidents never distinguish between novices and veterans, leisure and professional. When you encounter an emergency situation in the mountains and are isolated, mastering mountain rescue knowledge can give yourself a glimmer of hope - data shows that trapped people who master basic self-rescue knowledge have a survival chance of more than 50% higher than those who do not; When peers are in trouble and at a loss, knowing rescue skills can become the hope of protecting others; Even if you have never experienced a crisis and learned mountain rescue knowledge, it is a reverence and responsibility for life - it allows you to know how to avoid mountain risks, how to respond scientifically to emergencies, and how to use professional strength to break despair at critical moments.

There is no natural rescue powerhouse, only a guardian who takes the initiative to grow. The complexity of mountain rescue determines the necessity of learning; The irreversibility of life gives the meaning of learning. Here, you will systematically learn core knowledge such as mountain terrain identification, risk prediction, first aid skills, communication skills, search and rescue processes, and be taught by professional rescue instructors step by step, from theory to practice, from basic to advanced, so that you can truly master the mountain rescue skills that can save lives and respond to emergencies. What you learn is not only a set of rescue skills, but also a confidence to calmly respond to crises, a kind of strength to protect yourself and warm others.

The mountains and fields are vast, and life comes first. Don't let ignorance become a stumbling block when a crisis comes, and don't let regret stem from the rescue skills you haven't mastered. Take the initiative to learn mountain rescue knowledge, revere the mountains, protect life, and hope that every trip to the mountains can be safe and smooth; May every sudden crisis be prepared and professional, and build a solid safety line for every inch of mountains and seas!
